Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts. Many students embark upon a Liberal Arts education without knowing what those two words actually mean. The Liberal Arts are pursuits worthy of us as free individuals and pursuits which keep us free. We study history so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past, and we read philosophical treatises in order to understand virtue and the duties of a citizen in society. We respect the wisdom of the ancients but also look toward the future and know that we must produce graduates who are effective communicators and well-versed in the newest technology. For that reason, students will find Digital Media coexisting harmoniously with Old Testament History and many courses provided both in ground and online modes of delivery. The aphorism “Know thyself” encourages us as a college to look to our Christian faith and longstanding tradition of service and build upon that foundation as we prepare students to lead and serve in their communities.
