What is my Login and Password?
Your user ID is your Angel ID (including any numbers). Your password is the last 6 digits of your Social Security Number. If you forgot your username or are having trouble logging in, contact Technical Support at 877.428.8447 or 602.639.7200.
Why do I get an error message?
- If the error says that your username or password is incorrect, call Technical Support at 877.428.8447 or 602.639.7200.
- If your web browser displays a security certificate error click on “Continue to website (not recommended)”. The GCU Library and all associated database websites are safe to navigate.
- If the error states that the session timed out, refresh the page and log in again if necessary.
- If you are using AOL’s browser and are having difficulties, switch to Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Can I borrow books from the GCU Library?
Any GCU student, faculty or staff can borrow books from the GCU Library.
How do I borrow materials from the GCU Library?
GCU faculty, students and staff must present their GCU ID at the circulation desk along with the materials that you wish to borrow. Library cards are available for free to active pastors of local churches, TLCA Members, and GCU Alumni. Community members must pay a $25.00 annual fee.
How do I renew materials from the GCU Library?
Walk in, call us at 602.639.6641 or 800.800.9776, ext. 6641, or send an email to library@gcu.edu. Books and DVDs can be renewed once.
How long can I check materials out for?
Books are loaned for 3 weeks, DVDs are loaned for 3 days.
How much are late and lost fees?
Books are .25¢ per day, per item. DVDs are $1.00 per day, per item.
Lost fees equal the replacement cost of the item(s) plus a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee per item.
How do I find a book?
From the GCU Library website, click on the Books button. This will bring you to the GCU Library catalog. Enter your keywords in the Keyword Search For text field. Limit your search in the Search by and Limit by drop-down menus. Click on Go! to search.
How do I know if the result is an eBook?
The icons in the search result page will tell you if the book is a physical book, ebook, or multimedia item.
The
blue book icon indicates that the book is a physical book that is in the GCU Library.
The
computer and/or
world icon indicate that the book is an eBook that you can read on your computer.
The
CD icon indicates that the result is a DVD that you can check out in the GCU Library.
The
projector icon indicates that the result is streaming multimedia that you can watch on your computer.

What are the eBook databases?
The eBook databases are ebrary, myilibrary, NetLibrary, and Gale Virtual Reference
You can search for books in each individual database by clicking on the Articles & Databases link on the GCU Library website, or you can search through the GCU Library Catalog to search through all three databases at the same time.
I found a citation to an article and a book that the GCU Library does not own! Now what?
The GCU Library offers an InterLibrary Loan (ILL) service that you can use. InterLibrary Loan will borrow a book or article from another Library. Fill out the InterLibrary Loan form on the GCU Library website to request items.
How long does InterLibrary Loan (ILL) take?
Books take up to 10 days, journal articles take 5-10 business days.
How much does InterLibrary Loan (ILL) cost?
InterLibrary Loan will borrow the book or article from another Library that offers it free of charge. InterLibrary Loan can also borrow the book or article from another Library that does charge if you are willing to pay the borrowing fees.
How do I request InterLibrary Loan (ILL) items?
Go to the GCU Library website and click on the InterLibrary Loan Request. Fill out the form and click on submit.
How do I receive InterLibrary Loan (ILL) items?
Fill out the InterLibrary Loan form on the GCU Library website to request items. Books can be picked up at the GCU Library or mailed to you. Articles can be picked up, mailed, or faxed to you.
How do I search for journal articles?
You can search for journal articles by using the databases listed on the GCU Library website. Do this by clicking on the Articles & Databases button on the GCU Library home page.
How do I know which database to use?
Read the annotation next to each database listing. They will explain what the database is used for. You can also click on your subject heading on the Articles & Database page to look at recommended databases for your GCU area of study.

How do I find a specific article?
You can use the A to Z database listed on the GCU Library’s Articles & Databases page. In A to Z, type in the journal name in the Find e-journals by title or ISSN box and click on search. From the results, click the blue database link. Find the correct year, volume, and issue and finally, your article.
I can’t find full text articles, just abstracts!
Check the full text option in the limit section on the search page and click on search. Your results will now be in full text!
I didn’t get any results!
If your search produced no results, check your spelling. Revise your search by using fewer, broader, or related terms. Consult the database’s thesaurus where available (e.g. Medline, ERIC, OVID).
