A long season came to an end Friday afternoon when Grand Canyon University lost to Dixie State College 6-2 in St. George, Utah.
Grand Canyon fell behind by five runs after four innings before scoring twice in the fifth. Matt Fox doubled to right-center, Byron Reischl singled to left-center and Jeff Mutchler doubled down the right field line two batters later to score Fox. Tyler Stafford's sacrifice fly to center scored Reischl to make it 5-2.
But that's as close as the Antelopes (12-39) got.
Dixie State (25-22) held Grand Canyon to five hits, while the Rebels totalled 11. Mutchler (pictured) went 2 for 4 for the 'Lopes.
